Ok so all in all im gonna have to say that this wasnt that bad of an experience... there are a few things i will remember to do next time...

1.) Dont bake the cake when i get home from work... (i worked at 15 hr shift got home at 7am and decided i should bake a 3-D cake) not my brightest idea as the cake took well over an hour and a half and this was after i had made my MMF for my hat cake!!! icon_cool.gificon_cool.gificon_cool.gif

2.) Dont fill the pan with soo much batter (see pictures below) thank the cake god for the cookie sheet that i forced myself into using despite my lack of sleep!!!

I want to thank whoever posted about not using the core that comes with the pan (cant remember who) and i would also like to thank the person who posted about sliding some foil in the head, it worked like a charm. (Im sorry i cant remember the names) I would also like to thank everyone who posted about their problems with the pan... it made this go soo smooth for me!! This is before i decorate... he is about to go in the freezer...Enjoy... And get a good laugh out of my pan... i did (before i had to scrub him clean)

he looks great. I always forget and over fill this pan and end up with the same thing you showed in your pic. I am curious about the tin foil and the core thing, I missed that post. Do you mind sharing again?

No problem... someone was saying that the batter some times leaks out of the head (where the stand is) so you fold a peice of tin foil and slide it in the crack and then fold it over so you can stand the bear up as normal. And they say that using the core mokes the bear a little less stable (he has a tendency the break)... i didnt use the core and baked at 325 and checked him by sticking a dowel down in him to see if he was done.

hope this helps if i wasnt clear on anything you can pm me and ill be glad to try and clear it up...

Did a great job!! Looks great! I learned from experience-the foil and no core! So glad it turned out great for you!

I still can't picture the tin foil thing. The core I understand, though. Could someone please explain the foil a little more?

After you put bear together---and before adding batter--wrap bottom with foil! (which would be the head)

I have done two of these cakes and used the core. When taking it out the lst one I have to piece the cake back together. On the second on my Grandson suggested that I leave it in. Does it get done clear thru when not using the core?

The first bear I made--I used core--cooked through but fell apart when cooling--ended up in 6 pieces--with advise to not use the core--next cake--I did not use the core--put butter knife in center--(use to help cook through-and bear turned out wonderful! I did use the extender recipe-to help with the density--and lowered the temp and baked a little longer. Did wonderful!!

Yes dagrama it does get done just make sure to lower the temp of the oven to 325. I use the extender for the bear.

SQCakes- After to put the bear together sit him on his bottom... fold a peice of foil in half a few time.. stick it betweek the pans at the head (on top) and fold it over to lay flat on one side of the stand. flip him over on your cookie sheet and fill! This is to help with the slow leaking, should your pan have any!

i cant wait to decorate him... hes currently in the freezer!
