Is there a way to get true black and true red using BC and Wilton colorants? I get grey and pink...that won't work!

TIA

Yes it's possible but you have to use a whole lot of it. Starting with pink for red helps and chocolate/brown for black. Letting it set will deepen the colors. The Wilton often effects the taste though especially when making black and red (even no taste red in large amounts). I use Americolor rather than the Wilton...much, much better thumbs_up.gif

I've also had trouble with the Wilton Black. Americolor is supposed to be much better. Start with chocolate icing for both the black and the red. It helps with the color, but it also camofloges(sp?) the taste. Good luck!

I have had great success with the Americolor brands. Once I finish using all my wilton colors I will restock with Americolor only.
