Anybody have any good advice on getting Really Sharp Corners on a square cake covered in Fondant? I have covered squares before with MMF, but they don't come out very sharp and crisp. I have a square wedding cake due this weekend, and I want it to be very clean and crisp looking.......(does that make sense? LOL!) I plan on icing with BC underneath the fondant, and I can get that shap, but it seems to fall when I put the fondant on it........

Any ideas out there?

my suggestion would be to press the fondant into shape after you have applied it....form the edge from the outside of the fondant, perhaps with something like a corner trowel from the hardware store (will see if I can find a link to a pic)

I am wanting to know the same thing..about covering a square cake with fondant. What do you do with the extra fondant on each corner? Cut it and smooth the seam together? Also, do you need to apply the fondant when the BC is still soft or wait until it crusts?

Put your layer of buttercream on the cake and then chill it till it's firm then apply the fondant...Use two fondant smoothers to work around your corners.

not sure what extra fondant...just smooth and "stretch" the fondant on over the BC. I don't wait, since the BC is sort of what holds the fondant in place. I wouldn't cut and smooth, because I wouldn't think it would be as smooth that way.
