I think your price is super super cheap...and if he's looked into it at all, he'll see it's a TOTAL bargain. Not to even mention making the flowers and the pearls!?? HelLO??? Those should be charged more on top of a higher cake price to start with! You should've started higher to start with, imho...those are so time-consuming! Tell him for that price, he should be going with silk...from Walmart...(tell him "generic"--he'll get that term! lol)
I'd say if he's having trouble swallowing this cake (heh) price, then he shouldn't have offered to gift it, unless he was thinking, "Oh hey, I have a SIL who makes cakes. I'll just have her basically GIFT one to me, and then I'll GIFT it to these nice folks!" It'll look great, and it'll make him look like a hero, like he spent a fortune, off YOUR hard work, and you won't get paid for all your time. I could go on....but...
