In Holland, it's the tradition that you take 'gifts' into school/work with you on your birthday to share with your classmates/colleagues (a tradition I have a particular loathing for - but I won't get into that lol!). Anyhoo - it's my daughter's 4th birthday on Saturday and I'm thinking of making decorated sugar cookies for her to give to her classmates. There is pretty much a 50/50 split between boys & girls in her class and I thought of doing one design for the girls and one design for the boys. I'm crunched for time this week so I don't want anything too time intensive (although I'm aware that even simple decorated sugar cookies are going to take a while lol!),, but I just can't decide on what designs to do - any ideas? I need to do 12 of each. TIA! Oh, I have lots and lots of cookie cutters, so don't let that stunt your ideas!
BUMP - I have the dough chilling, need some ideas quick! Anyone???
Thanks for the ideas, I'll rake through my (many) cutters and see what I have!
It's the same 'tradition' here in the states. When my DD turned 4, I made "4" cookies, dog bones and paw prints.
Here's a few other ideas:
flip flops and sneakers
pink poodles and dalmations
candle shaped cookies, iced in pink & blue
lady bugs and spiders
present shaped cookies
Can't wait to see what you bake up!! ![]()
OK, I went with boring old cupcake with the candle in the top cookies. Mainly just because I don't have hours and hours to spare to decorate them (and as a perfectionist, I would!). BUT for the party favour bags for her actual birthday party I made Pirate Ships and Tiaras - with only 4 each of those to do, I can spend the time needed on each! Will post photos tomorrow when all done. Thanks again for all your suggestions!
