My mom had one of these in her pantry, looks like a pastry gun, claims to hold 2 cups of icing and had a large star tip as one of the several plastic tips included in the box. She bought it on sale at some point, never tried it. I was doing a bunch of cupcakes for a picnic so I figured I'd try it, it *looked* like it would ice cupcakes very easily.
HA HA HA..... there are not enough bad words in the English language to describe icing with this thing. First you screw off the top and try to jam the icing into this thing. Unless your icing is liquid, you aren't going to get 2 cups of icing into it. Then you have to squeeze part of the icing out to get the air bubbles out. Ok, so now you have it filled with about 1 1/4 cups of icing.
I frosted a few cupcakes and it ran out of icing. So I unscrew the thing to refill it. the little pressure ring that pushes the icing down doesn't completely seal the tube, so there is icing on that, so when removing it, it gets icing all over the dang gun so it's now all messy. You have to have quite a bit of icing in the dang gun for it to work so although I made enough icing for all my cupcakes I was unable to ice the last 2 with the stupid thing.
So much for a quick shortcut to frosting cupcakes! This dang thing can go back to my mom's to collect dust in her pantry. Took me forever since I had to refill every 3 to 4 cupcakes.
