I don't know if this is the case in any area, but it's happening at my WalMart and at my sister's as well (different state). Anyway, they're remodeling and doing away (or severely downsizing) their craft department. I just happened to notice it yesterday and got the 12-piece cupcake tip kit for $3. They had several Wilton cake tops as well (no pans yet). Anyway, it might be something for you to keep an eye on at your WalMart. For non-cake items, they had a bunch of artists paint brushes, beads, floss, etc.
Thanks for the information! That is good and bad news though. I will love shopping the sale, but living in a smaller town, Wal Mart is where I do a lot of my shopping. I hope they will still carry some basics!
I noticed that the other day when I went in for Wilton coloring, they didn't have any or a place for it. Got to looking around and their Wilton section looked kinda bare. We don't have anyplace to shop in our town of 5000 now, so if they eliminate that, I guess I'll have to make monthly shopping trips 100 miles away.
They might not be downsizing, but instead reorganizing. It is that time of year where they get new products in so they clearence out the old ones and then give the isle a face lift!
A couple of weeks ago I found the round globe pillars at my local wal-mart, went up to DesMoines the next day and was looking for more sets as I was missing the 3" still. Low and behold they had the Fanci fountain on clearence for $30.00!!! I couldn't beleive it! that was the find of the month! Both of these wal-marts just re-did their isles for the new season but they were not getting rid of anything.
What we're having is total store renovation (same at my sister's). As part of that renovation they're basically killing the crafts. There will still be some things, but minimal. This isn't the normal "out with the old in with the new". For ours, you can already see decorative houseware taking over the sewing section. Instead of fabric bolts, there's glass decor (it looks a lot more like Target's international houseware section, but on the cheap)
sam thing here.. No fabric and I like to sew and there are no other fabric stores in our town
several off the walmarts in my area have downsized the craft dept. esp the wilton products. The last walmart i was at only had 1 1/2 aisles for all crafts. I heard a while back the walmart was going to stop carrying wilton products, not sure if that is true or not.
