ok..1st, let me say I am TOTALLY ADDICTED!! icon_surprised.gif I made my first batch of mmf today, and tried (stated loosely) to put it on an 8" round. I absolutely could not get it smoothed around the sides. Is there something I am doing wrong (big surprise there), or does it just come with practice? I probaly worked on that silly thing for half an hour! Any suggestions, comments, etc would be appreciated! I LUV THIS SITE!! lol icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks!!
Charlotte

p.s. anyone from the Denton, TX area?

Go to this website. She has awesome tips and hints about working with mmf and if you still have any questions she is quick to respond. I love her tutorial. It has helped me a lot.

Someone posted this same question a few days ago. Try looking back for some detailed answers. I find that if I heat the MMF, add Crisco to it so that it is more elastic, and put it on my cake with my cake elevated so that the excess fondant is hanging below the cake, it goes on smoothly. Then I trim off the excess and it is fairly flawless. Have fun practicing!

I agree with everything DrTina said. It's all about microwaving and crisco.

Good luck!
