I Don't Like Crusted Buttercream Recipe.anyone Else?

I made this for a wedding cake this week and the buttercream was just way too soft. I don't know if it was the humidity or what. I put extra sugar in and everything but I didn't want it to be sickning sweet either. Has anyone else had problems with buttercream?
Oh yeah. the first birthday cake I did this month was MELTING down the sides of the cake. No kidding.
