I am making a stack of books cake tomorrow. l am trying to work out how your cover the cake boards used under each book in the stack. Do you just trim the edge with fondant to look like the back cover of the book? Or do you over the whole thing including the board with fondant just like the cover of a real book? I looked at the ones in the gallery, but can't figure it out and I need to know by tomorrow!
Anyone still out there that can help?

I just use a ribbon of fondant for my books, but haven't made a stack yet. I suppose it all ends up with what would work best for you personally.

I need to make a stack of books also in a couple weeks. I can use all the hints at making them that I can. So any help would be great. I would like to use buttercream instead of fondant. So I don't know about doing that either. Thanks.

I used BC as the cake covering and only a strip of fondant around the bottom to give the illusion of a bound book

I just made one last weekend. I used a buttercream layer under MMF. I wrapped the MMF around both sided for the book cover and stacked without boards. Only three books, but it worked great.
