I am doing an ice cream cake for this weekend and I was asked to use rocky road ice cream which is fine. They asked for pound cake..would this work together? For some reason I can't get my mind around the ice cream cake idea and using pound cake. Any suggestions?

TIA!

Well it will WORK but the pound cake is going to be awfully hard when you are trying to eat it frozen (all that butter...)

It will be fine. I worked at Baskin Robbins as a teen and they used a pound type cake for their white cake and it tastes great. Just let the cake thaw for about 15 minutes before serving, long enough to soften up the cake and ice cream just a bit.

I guess that depends then on what exactly you mean by pound cake. Are you baking it from scratch where 1/4 of the ingredient amount is butter? Then it will be like frozen butter - too hard. If you are using a doctored mix or something that is just a firmer cake but doesn't actually include butter (or are buying Sara Lee or something from the store and can see the frozen texture already) then you should be fine.
