I'm just wondering, can you use Airheads in place of Starbursts? Airheads seem like they would be easier to work with since they are longer and thinner then Starbursts.

Could someone give me the link to the instructions? I know they are here, I just can't find them. Maybe it's my pounding headache! Thanks in advance!

Thanks for all the great comments. I think airheads would work but havent tried it. The starburst were not hard to work with. I microwaved it for 6 secs in the wrapper then it was soft enough to mold. I broke off a piece and made a little hersheys kiss and then flatten another piece to make the middle of the rose and then just kept on breaking off pieces big enough to make petals and did it like i would a buttercream rose just used my fingers to flatten each piece in the shape of a petal. start with 3 petals then 5 then 7 or you can stop at 5. Just place the petals on like you would on buttercream. Its great to have a pic of a rose so you can refer to it. I've only done buttercream roses so it was really my 1st time molding. Its not hard at all just get them and start working. For the tootsie roll i used a hershey kiss chocolate for the base.

here is a link someone posted before.

I didnt follow it because it just seemed like too many steps for me.

I would be aware of Airhead roses, reason being is I made a slide from the Women's Day cakes and when it gets warm and it doesn't take much gets longer and longer. I even put white chocolate in the airhead piece to shape the slide and had blue sprinkles for the water which connected to the top of an ice cream cone (water tower). Thank goodness it was for my granddaughter who never knew the difference, but it does not keep it's shape very well.
