I want to get round (ball shaped one), for my county fair entry. Do you think the round florist styrofaom would work. Not the foam that has the huge holes like from Michael and Joanns' but the darker green? Could I cover it with roya icing and use that? Thank you

I just ordered a bunch of round and square dummies from Dallas Foam.

http://www.dallas-foam.com/store/cakedummies.html

They're shipping was a bit high but they're prices were so low that it was still less expensive to order from them than other sites. They do specialty shapes and custom orders, couldn't hurt to call and ask how much a ball would be.

I don't see why it wouldn't work, even the ones with all the holes. I would suggest first puttinga nice layer of royal icing on it to fill in the holes or to keep it from absorbing moisture, which ever ball you end up going with.
