How Do I Make Choc Buttercream Be A Deeper Darker Brown?

Probably a silly question. but had to ask.

I made Wilton choc b/c(which I actually like!). It is a nince brown, but was hoping for a darker look--maybe like a ganache brown if that makes sense.

If I add more cocoa powder will it make it bitter at some point? I have Americolor black, but would it ruin it, tastewise or color?

I made a double choc cake with fragglerock's fudge filling and now will frost with choc b/c. Very simple, but I am doing 5 mini cakes for teacher gifts.

Thanks!

I went with what I had and it was fine, but next time I will be prepared--I do like the dark choc look.

Thanks!

cakeatopia - I just made a cake with the new Hershey's Special Dark Cocoa & it is good!!!!!! I love it! The color is so dark, it's almost black, but not quite. I highly recommend it.

I use unsweetened baking chocolate squares instead of cocoa for my chocolate buttercream icing. I think that it has a better chocolate flavor....and....a darker color.
