If the stick is loose in the already baked cookie, is there a way to get it to stick? Or does it just become a family treat?

I find if I have a couple like that - i actually pull the stick out if you can, use a tip and stick some royal icing up the hole, and re insert the stick and let it dry. usually works. If you can't pull it out, then I usually just dabe a bit of royal where the stick is inserted.

You can also try melted chocolate/candy melts and use it the same way as the royal icing for a quick fix.
