I just put batter in my first 3D cake pan. The stand up cuddly bear pan from Wilton. It is leaking out the bottom or the head. I used the batter recommended a 2 layer mix and pound cake mix. I could see no holes or gaps when I put the clips on, but it leaked out anyway. Will this wreak my pan or my cake? icon_mad.gif

HOw much is it leaking? Unless it's just pouring out there's not a problem.

These pans are best baked on a cookie sheet to catch the drips.

It is not leaking too much. Not pouring out by all means, and I have a cookie sheet under it. Good to know that I don't have to worry too much. Thank you!!! icon_biggrin.gif

I always take a piece of foil and fold it in half....stick the folded part a little bit into the head crevice, and then fold the rest over around the base. That seems to stop most of the head from leaking.

Good for you. I think the first 3d pan that turns out is a bit of a rush because you're so nervous about it.

Well all decorated and ready for my kids to come home tomorrow. They are at their grandparents for the night. My icing went soft on me about halfway through so it looks like it is covered in really weird and smooshy looking stars, but it is ok though. I will post pics when I can figure out my camera. I am not one of those elctronic people.

I put both of mine on pan and also covered the bottom of cake pan with foil. I also held my pan up to light, after putting clips on and adjusted the clips so I couldn't see light between pans.HTH
