I am taking a wilton cake class and I am trying to make roses and they look melted. I think my hands are warm and that is why they look melted. I think my icing is the correct consistency. I bought the ready made icing from wilton and put some confectioners sugar in it to stiffen it up. Does anyone have any suggestion.
Thanks
Renee
I think it may be the ready made. It happens to me everytime I use it, no matter how much extra sugar I put in. I end up putting my piping bags in the refridge for a few minutes after every rose or two. Sorry not a ton of help.
If you are thinking that it is because your hands are hot, here is a few discussions on how to prevent icing from melting due to hot hands. HTH some, Jen

This one talks about chocolate, but same concept of hot hands. I linked this one due to the suggestion of the gloves=)

Thanks for the help !!! I will try putting it in the fridge or making my own icing instead of using the ready made Wiltons.
Well I did not have to put the icing in the fridge. All I had to do was add merange (dont think it is spelled right) to the ready made stuf and it works now.
