I am so mad right now!!!
I just ordered some stuff from kopykake....28 frosting sheets and some ink for an iP3000 printer...it came to $98.00 than the shipping was something like $48.00!!! icon_eek.gificon_eek.gif but I thought I would suck that up....I just get a phone call and now UPS is wanting to charge me another $40.00 some for brokerage fees PLUS I still have to pay Canadian taxes and any customs fees!!!!! So I call kopykake and they said if I returned the order I would have to pay a 20% restocking fee and also lose out on the shipping I paid! I CAN'T believe this! I had 35lbs of fondant shipped from frickin Texas and it cost $35.00 US!!!!!!!!! Boy have I ever been ripped off!!!!!!!
icon_mad.gificon_mad.gificon_mad.gif
I'm ready to send my printer back!
OH yeah when I phoned kopykake they said they have Canadian suppliers..WHAT!??!?!?!?!? Why isn't that listed anywhere on their site!!!!!!!!! icon_mad.gificon_mad.gif
Just had to vent...kopykake is just another rip off!!!!!

Hey Gibson,

Yes..I have bought from Bakemark. That is where I got my high ratio shortening from which I don't like!! My friend has a business license there so I always get her to pick things up for me.I haven't tried the edible image stuff because I don't have a printer.

Oh No, Kiddiekakes, don't you suck it up yet. Who did you talk to at Kopy Kakes? Ask to talk to someone who has authority and someone who is chief honco in their customer service department. Sometime, you really have to pursue these things and stay on it and don't give up. Then you should send out a letter not an email to them. If writing a letter like this isn't one of your talents then ask someone you know who is good at this.
I for one am willing to email them as a potential buyer but knowing about their poor customer relations I am going elsewhere. You might let them know that you are on at least this forum and now the word is out about them.

I don't have any idea at what stage you are in your life. But these situations do come up ane it is important to meet them head on and do what you can. Don't roll over and suck it up without making an effort. I hate when this treatment of anyone. Let me know what happens and if I can help.

The problem is that KopyKake probably shipped by UPS. UPS causes all kinds of problems crossing international borders.

mrsright, that is exactly why I am paying all these fees. Kopykake says if I right them a letter assuming all responsiblity they will ship through the US postal service. Too late now!

gibson, I truly know how you feel. I work at a courier company in Gander, NL and see it all the time. Mostly with UPS though. I'd suggest in future refusing those horribly overpriced shipments. I'd love to know myself if there any any Canadian suppliers. I have a devil of a time finding character pans or any nice decorating supplies in general. It is indeed very frustrating.

thats not right. They really should try to accommodate you in sort of way since you are buying a big order. What people dont realize is they think they can screw you over and you not do anything about it. well since you posted this I WILL NOT BE BUYING ANY THING FROM KOPYCAKES SINCE I SEE HOW THEY TREAT THEIR POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS.

Butternut, you won't have the same problems because you are in the US. This problem comes because it is crossing the border to Canada. I plan on getting that printer as soonas I can afford it.

It's just the principle of the thing. Being that I live in the U.S. I wouldn't have a problem. But the fact that they treat other people that don't live in the U.S. this way is enough for me to take my business elsewhere.

Then it would be better not to order anything that is shipped by UPS because this is UPS's fault, not KopyKake.

Thanks butternut! I do have to agree with mrsright although Kopykakes shipping was $48.00 for 28 frosting sheets and some ink cartridges. Like mentioned before, I had 35lbs of fondant shipped from Texas for $35.00 US although that was done through US post. It all reflects back on UPS and myself, I should have been more knowledgable before I ordered.....I had no idea UPS did this! I can write Kopykake a letter asking them to send my stuff through US post as long as I take full responsibility if it gets damaged. When I first typed this up I was so mad I put the blame on the wrong person!! It is myself and a little bit UPS (LOL!) that I should be mad at! I learned a very important lesson and that's to make sure you really look into things before you buy!!!!
So please don't "out" them because of my stupid mistake, and I do thank you for the support!

edited for spelling! icon_redface.gif

Oh, now I get it. When I just read Rachel's reply I thought, UPS, what about UPS. I obviously somehow went right over that part of the original post icon_redface.gif So, now I am totally clear on what happened. Anyway, I hope that you'll be able to order from the Canadian supplier next time. I agree, all of those charges were just outrageous!!

Hey Gibson or anyone else,

I dont know if this helps as far as the customs charges that Canada charges but

UPS has a shipping option that is called Standard to Canada. And it is Guaranteed.
It is a whole lot cheaper and alot cheaper than USPS.

You can go to UPS.com and put in shipping info to and from and it will give you a quote on what shipping would be. You do have to estimate the weight for the package.

Maybe the next time you want to purchase from the US find out from the company you are ordering from if they will do UPS Standard to Canada.

If they say they cant then that would make me not want to order from them. Because customer service is doing anything to help there customer out. If they can save you on shipping that would be a big ++++ for them and it didnt cost them anything more.

Ive worked for companys that ship out and pretty much they use more than one shipping company and they can use any option that shipping company offers.

HTH
