Attaching Fondant To Lollipop Sticks?
Decorating By aligotmatt Updated 22 Jun 2006 , 9:34pm by adven68
I'm making a fish cake for my sons birthday using the sports ball pan mold. I made fondant fins with gum-tex according to the recipe and at the end it says after the fins are dry, attach lollipop sticks using fondant thinned with water. I guess I just don't know how that would work. The eyes and lips have lollipop stuck in them to dry, but I don't get how it could be sturdy to attach the sticks after the fins dry. Any ideas would be SO appreciated! Thanks!
When you thin out a small piece of fondant, it becomes like a thick Elmer's glue texture and you can use that as glue for lollipop sticks....what I do to make it even sturdier, is "glue" the stick on the piece (I usually use water) and then roll out another thin piece of fondant and place it on top of the stick....but don't let it show from the front of the piece. When this dries, it will be very strong. Hope this helps...
