My daughter's preschool teacher knows I do cakes for fun and asked me if I would bring a cake in for the class in two weeks -- every two weeks their theme changes and at the end they have a party celebrating the theme -- the theme for my cake is "Community"!

Go figure! I have to have something enough for 30 kids - I have some ideas running through my head but need some help. I am not a fondant user (I try but can't really go there!).

I've thought of making a small town out of cakes, having a sheet cake prescored with a different type of community person on top of each piece (ie, fireman, policeman - but don't know if I could come up with 30 different people and then the kids would fight over who got what person)....

Any good ideas?

What about a bunch of multi-cultural stick like figures of children holding hands?????

You could put on it...

"Give You Community a Helping Hand"

since it's preschool - they may relate to the community of sesamie street....that was actually part of our community theme at my dd school. Mr. Ropers store, the lunch counter, the hardware store, elmo, big bird and all.
