I don't recall having that problem. I'd suggest your maybe wrinse them out in your sink with a lot of running water over them. Maybe that would help.
I have often wondered why the water I soak the strips in turns yellowish, but have never noticed any particular odor about them! I would suggest soaking and drying them a couple of times before you bake with them again.
Yesterday at a resale shop I found an unopened package of baking strips (marked $6.99) of one 8" and one 9" for .99, a 5 1/2" Wilton heart shaped pan for .99, and 12 cookie cutters for $1.99! Jan
Yes, I felt like I'd found buried treasure! I forgot to mention the little 2 cup stainless steel bowl (that I plan to use as a cake pan with rounded edges) also at .99. I was as happy as a kid with a new toy, well, in a way I guess that's what I am! LOL Jan
what part of west v are u from my hubbie is from there
i always soak mine a few times before i use them.
I am from WV also-Fairmont. It is 20 minutes south of Morgantown. Nice to see another Mountaineer/cake decorator ![]()
This is a late reply, but I'm just catching up! When my baking strips were new, I didn't soak them long enough and they actually began to burn and melt. Maybe that's what you are smelling? They were very stiff and the gray stuff had wrinkled! Hope you got it figured out! ![]()
