Hello everyone!
I'm making 2 16" round cakes that are to be decorated with fondant gerber daisies on the sides along with stems. I know how to attach fondant to fondant, but what's the best way to attach fondant to the buttercream??? I'm concerned about the weight of them and getting them to stay up there!!

Thanks!!
Valerie

I suggest letting them dry to they are lighter. Roll them thin is another thing you can do, they shouldn't fall of the buttercream.

I make my pieces a few days ahead of time, some I keep under cover so I can shape last minute and some pieces I premake and let airdry. Sometimes air dry in front of a fan as well.

When ready to attach I just place and push into the buttercream which has crusted well, usually a day ahead. Hope this helps you. thumbs_up.gif

Attaching fondant to fondant, some use piping gel or water. Another really good way to get it to stick fondant to fondant(like if you are doing that with the stems to the flowers) is to make a glue. Take and break up a little fondant in a small dish, add a little bit of water and mix it until it becomes a paste. This stuff really holds well!! When I attach fondant pieces to BC, I lightly brush a little water to the back of the fondant piece with a paint brush and stick it on. But many ways work, like piping gel, a little BC on the back of the piece, the water on the back of the piece, or nothing at all, cause BC and fondant do stick pretty good=) Depends on your preference, so test em out and see what works best for you=) Good luck on your cake and would love to see it, I love gerber daisies! HTH some, Jen

Thank you so much for all the quick responses!! I'm going to try a couple different ways and I'll let you know which way works best!! I will try to post a pic when I get them all done, but my files are usually too big for this site. I'll try to shrink them down and post one or two.

Wish me luck...this is my first large order (and I probably way under charged them, but it's for the school I work at anyways).

Thanks,
