I've never used color flow until Monday night. Now, I've made several "transfers" with some color flow I made but I think I just realized I've done it wrong. When I'm using color flow I don't do my design like a transfer, do I? Do I just do my designs on the "right" side of the paper and not on the "reverse" side? I think I know the answer but someone please confirm so I can start over!! icon_redface.gificon_cry.gif
Thanks.

You are correct. You should be piping the color flow right-side up on the picture, unless you deliberately want to reverse the image.

I think the idea behind the colour flow is that you get the shiny raised or rounded look, when you fill in your outlines. Therfore, you do it right side up.

You could alway's just flip them over when they dry and have them two sided, if its something that would work for, would save you some time of starting totally over again. icon_biggrin.gif

In my experience, the back of the color flow piece doesn't look too great - mine are dull, a bit wrinkled, and full of tiny bubbles on the back, while the fronts are nice and smooth and shiny.

At least you got some experience doing the colorflow work - here's hoping the second time around goes quickly for you!

Even though I did it on the reverse side, when I went to remove the image from the wax paper it broke all apart. The one I tried to remove had been setting up since Monday night. Will I have this same problem when I try to remove it on the correct side of the pattern?
Thanks, as always.

How thick are you making them? If they are pretty thick and you are very careful when you peel away the paper, you should be fine. I've heard people say to make a backup in case one breaks. I have a colorflow in my pics that was pretty big and I didn't have any breakage.

I meant that you could go over the backsides with color flow also, not use the back sides, I didn't explain myself very well again icon_lol.gif Sorry to hear they broke on you when you removed them.

Can i ask a question? What are you using for a pattern? What type of paper? Is it waxed paper? The reason I'm asking is that if your using some other form of paper - that may be your problem with removing your pieces. I do alot of color flow so I'd love to help.

My Wilton instructor showed us a way to remove the colour flow from wax paper which prevents breakage most of the time. (I don't know if this is the way everyone does it ) You put the colour flow (on the wax paper) near the edge of the table with the wax paper hanging over the edge(with a 90 degree angle edge), pull the wax paper towards the floor, being extra careful not to let the colour flow fall on the floor as you're pulling the paper. This worked for all of my royal icing snowflakes too. I hope you get what I'm trying to say, it would be a lot easier to show you in person.
Good luck!!
