I am just starting out and can not seem to do the shell border well. I was told to not put the shells to close. I do not like the look and wondered how everyone else does them. I make the shell big and stretch the icing with a long tail. I know it is my first, but I have seen other first and do not like the way I am doing them. icon_redface.gif Any advice?

Thanks

Michelle

My teacher taught us not to stretch the tail. Put your tip next to the board or cake sqeeze and then release presher. Do not move the tip and the bring the tip down to the board. You bearly move the tip. I hope you understand what I'm saying. I'm just starting out myself, about a year ago.

Well sometimes you can use the border you are using. It looks good on some cakes. But you can get variety too by varying the distance of your tails of your shells. Don't pull em out near as far and you can get shorter shells or make a motion with your hand like you are writing e's that makes a lovely border as well. Just practice practice n more practice hun. Pretty soon you'll be makin your shells with long tails, short tails, and maybe curly q's in between. Just keep at it hun.
