Help....is there anything I can add to the MMF to make it dry harder? I made daisy's last week and they are still really soft. Also, how long are the cut outs good for? They are in a plastic container but not wrapped tightly.

Any suggestions?

MMF doesn't really dry well, expecially in hummid areas during the summer.

I have heard (but haven't tested it out myself) that you can add gum-tex to your MMF to help it dry faster.

I would suggest doing a search of the forums, i know this has been brought up a few times in passing before.

Sorry i coudlnt' be of more help.

next time do a 50/50 mix of mmf & gumpaste and allow plenty of drying time....

I may be misunderstanding--Are the daisy cutouts that you would like to dry in the tupperware? Even if they're not tightly wrapped, that'll keep them from drying. I had soccer ball cut outs once that I let sit out to dry and then when I put them in tupperware, they became soft again.

As long as they're sitting out in the open air, they should be firm in a day or two-- humidity does effect the dry time but it definitely shouldn't take a week! At least, not in my experience-- good luck!!

I have tried mixing my mmf 50/50 with pre-made gumpaste and it's worked well.

Just last week, I tried mixing a little Tylose powder into my mmf - and they dried really hard - and rather quickly.

Since you already have your flowers made, I agree with elvis - put them out on a counter to let them dry. If you are worried about dust getting on them, you could cover them with a paper towel.

Good luck.

I did a little experiment, left different size pieces of mmf out for a week in an a/c house that is not humid. NONE of the pieces, even the tiny ones, dried hard. They stayed flexible. IMO, they don't dry hard as straight mmf.

I never had a problem with drying MMF, whether it's 50/50 or
straight MMF.. I live in Sacramento County (CA) where right now is 107 degrees (almost). Regardless of the season. It needs to air dry... not even loose covering. Take it our of the plastice container. Lay them on parchment paper on a cookie rack on the kitchen counter. Mine usually takes 3 days, tops for drying. icon_smile.gif

My mmf doesn't dry well either, but I live in southern indiana where it's always humid! So what I did was I already had my mmf made up, and I bought some gumtex and sprinkled in 1/2 tsp for each ball of mmf I had (they weighed 7 oz each). It really helped. I made some flowers Tuesday (now thursday) and they aren't rock hard, but they're dryer than they would have been with mmf alone. Also helped keep the mmf roses from drooping.

sorry meant to say I sprinkled it on the mmf and then kneeded it in really well.
