The Cake Decorating Made Easy videos??? Are they any good? Are they worth the $50.~ each they cost? I don't really want to dish out that kind of money I mean really $100.~ for 2 videos????? Is it really worth it????
I'm thinking the same too!
I have subscribed to their website, and I keep receiving video tips on cake decorating from them - it seems almost daily! So I am thinking, maybe I will eventually end up with the whole video's, just by getting the video tips!!!
Well what I was thinking was maybe someone would be willing to share them with us lol I mean heck we all share music and pics and tips all the time so what would be the difference lol
I just can't swallow $100 for two videos. I know that it costs them money and because it's not mass produced, it's higher cost for them, but when there are SOOOO many other resources, it's hard to "swallow"... If I could find them used, I would buy it, but I just can't pay that much.
With that said, people have said they are REALLY good... Who knows, maybe I'll cave some day, but I still would like a "deal".

The pirating police will be after you! Be careful! (though that's very generous!)
Oh Sorry I forgot!!! (hahaha) How can I delete this message I don't want any trouble I was only trying to help someone out!!
So Sorry,
Stacy
I think when you "edit" your message, you can edit it LOL or you can delete it too.
yikes i was compaining about 10 bucks for a cookie cutter... i can delinatly find something better to do with 100 bucks than get 2 videos!!!
I have purchased the Wilton Flowers DVD and I've watched it once lol... These aren't even videos I can play in my DVD player they are like ebooks or evideos and I mean it's great that they offer you a money back deal and you keep the video's for free but you have to prove to them in some way shape or form that the videos didn't help you.... I just can't see droppin $50.~ on one or $100.~ on both and it not helping me at all. lol...
As for burning copies I wouldn't want anyone getting into any trouble for ANYTHING!!! That's not why I started this thread lol. I will admit I do share music with friends and family and we do swap songs from time to time if someone gets a new CD and rips it to their comp. But I guess that would be the same as "Hey can I borrow that new CD of yours?" and then I rip it to my own comp lol.
Anyway if anyone has them and is willing to let me "test drive" them before I make the plunge and pay all that money for them I'd greatly appreciate it. ![]()
I've often wondered if there were some kind of sharing video group for CC'ers. Usually you can find used books/videos at half.com or amazon marketplace, but no such luck for cake decorating. I've tried the library and local video stores and a got a big zero there too.
I bought a video called "The Complete Guide to Cake Decorating & Baking" by Elaine MacGregor and although I didn't care for it, I would be happy to send it to anyone who wants to see it, and maybe they can send it to another person, etc.
Would anyone be interested in splitting the cost with several people and trying to work something out like that? Does anyone here have videos they would be willing to sell? (sorry if that's a forum no-no) Maybe we could PM each other to start some kind of share video/books etc?
I didn't mean to upset anyone here I was just trying to be nice and I guess I wasn't thinking about what I was writting until it was to late!!! Oh well we learn from our mistakes!!
Sorry,
Stacy
P.S. I liked the DVD's.
I got the DVDs as a gift for easter. If you haven't taken any cake decorating classes before, or haven't been decorating very long, they are helpful. I would say 70% of it was review to me, but it has some cool tips, that wilton method doesn't teach you. If you are someone who is more of a visual learner, who needs to see things done before you can, then they are definitely worth it. As for the emails, they come almost every day, but they are not usually tips that are on the DVDs except the first few they send. Hope this helps.
Stacy hun you didn't upset or offend me at all lol. I'd love to be able to have someone share with me what they have... save money ya know. I share with my family and friends all the time it's one tiny part of the reason we have friends ya know lol. Heck if my friends didn't lend me stuff and visa versa I don't know what I'd do sometimes lol.

And gosh no, you didn't offend me, I just wanted to say something so that you didn't get into any trouble as I KNOW your intentions were just to do good!
I am a visual learner. I took three classes of course one with Wilton (the fourth class the teacher didn't show up!!!), but beforehand I had purchased the big tool kit for 50% off at AC moore and it has all the directions/sets for all three courses and I bought the decorating book by Wilton that has the roses all on top and the scrollwork done in round balls on the side - all rose colored... Well, it has GREAT information and says how to do everything, but just like knitting and crochet, I can't get it unless I'm SHOWN how to do it in real life time, not one picture here and one picture there and DEFINITELY not with text only! LOL
that's why this site has been invaluable because lots of resources here and people have shared other links too.. I've gotten better with each cake I do!
Melissa
I too get the e-mails from cakes made easy, but have not bought the videos. My son's speech therapist is also into cake decorating and we got on the subject one day and she said she has them. She told me that if you know anything about cake decorating, even just basics, then the first video is of no use, but the second one was alright. Overall, I don't think she was that satisfied with buying them.
Melissa I'm the same way!! My grandmother taught me how to do cross stitch and it took me having to watch her to get it right. My friend taught me how to Crochet and I nolonger have that person as a friend so I haven't gotten past what she taught me lmao. I've gotten books and manuals and the "I taught myself to Crochet" kit from Walmart but I just can't get past the stuff I was SHOWN lol.
Video's do great things for me. I watched the Wilton Flower's video a few times and since we've moved I haven't found it yet so I can't get any hands on practicing done yet but I am truely a visual learner lol.
