Haven't made one yet, but if I did have to, I would just use 3 round tips in different sizes, biggest one for the body (red icing) middle size for the head(black icing) smallest tip for the black spots on the back. Oh and smallest size for the eyes as well in white with a black toothpick dab of icing for the pupils. Smooth each one out with cornstarch dipped finger

Hi! I just typed ladybug into search and several ladybug cakes were discussed in a previous forum. Most of the pictures from what I could see were done with buttercream. Good luck!

Oh I thought piped ladybugs were meant. I have made them out of cake though. For one of them I used the footballcakepan and also the miniballpan. I'll try to attach pics

Hi,

I used the Wilton ball pan for this one. I used cookie cutters to place where the spots (or hearts in this case) went and also for the eyes. The antennae are gumpaste, but I've also used licorice.

Use miniballpan or muffins. That's the easiest and the smallest I can think of. 2/3 decorated red for body, 1/3 black for head. eyes white with black pupils licorice sticks for antennae. Black spots on the back, smooth down with cornstarchdipped finger.HTH

I made some out of royal icing. Just made a big flat dot out of red royal icing and a small oval adjoining it. After it dried I painted the details black with a paintbrush. Not pefect but my 3 year old granddaughter loved it!

Oops, sorry - I misunderstood. To make an all BC one, I use #12 tip and make the red body. #6 for the black head. If you get points, either dip your finger in cornstarch and press it down or let it set up for a few minutes and press it down without the cornstarch. I then use #1 or #2 tip for the spots, line, eyes and some small antennae. Unfortunately, I don't have a pic for you. Good luck!!

I made some last month and they were super easy. I made real little ones. I just kind of guessed. I think I used tip 3 for the head and made that first. Then used tip 4 to push up against the head and let the icing push out to make the rounded body. Then I used tip 1 to put the line down the back and add the dots. Some I put eyes on and some not. I liked it better without.
