Went to Sugarcraft today. OMG!!! I could spend thousands of dollars in that place! They have everything. My DH was so kind, he helped me looks for stuff he knew I wanted, and even pointed out stuff I didn't see. Plus, he even picked out a cool book for me while I was browsing fondant tools. It's so bad that I live that close to this place.....I might need an intervention in the future!
I'm like that when I go into a new cake shop... it's like I have to be dragged from the shop while I whimper pitifully because I want so many new things when I go into these new places... I can't even imagine if I lived close to a really large town that had a huge cake decorating supply store ... I can imagine how you felt in such a big place with so much to offer... lucky you to have even gotten to visit such a great place!!
I know the feeling. I live 3-5 miles from my local cake supply store and everytime I go in there I could spend hundreds of dollars. Especially since Wilton has new stands and pillars out. What makes it so bad is that I have to pass by the cake supply store everyday on my way home from work to pick up my daughter. It's so hard not stopping by there. ![]()
You are all so lucky! I don't live near any supply places other than Michael's or AC Moore!
Agent, you must be speaking of CakeArt...love that place!!!!
Where in Cincinnati is this? I live north of Columbus.....maybe I could sneak a road trip in......
I used to live north of Columbus in a town called Mount Vernon. Ever heard of it? Where are you? I'm in the Dayton area now.

Yes I am speaking of Cake Art. It is very addictive! ![]()
Jen,
I grew up in Mount Vernon and lived there untill about 2 years ago! What a small world....errr...forum! ![]()
You guys are so lucky all we have is like 3 shelves at the walmart. And an hour north we have a small ben franklins inside of an ace hardware, they have a half of a row (which is better than walmart but with the gas at $3.46, I try not to drive that far very often) My husband would definetly have to drag me out of any store that was all cake decorating. It's like a dream ![]()

Wow! I never thought I would meet anyone on the web who had even heard of Mount Vernon, let alone lived there! DH and I went to the Naz, graduated in '99, and lived there until about 2.5 years ago. I miss the quiet! Kettering is nice, but not as slow paced as Mt Vernon. We used to go to Columbus all the time to go to the mall, and just went for the weekend a couple of weeks ago. I loved going to Polaris! I miss Mount Vernon now, and wouldn't really mind going back!
Oh good lordy! If I lived close to SugarCraft, we would go under!
Nothing like talking about home to make me smile!
I graduated from the high school in 2003 (yeah, I'm a young'n) and just moved to Columbus about two years ago. I have a one and a half year old son, and can't wait untill we have the opportunity to move back. It would be a great place to raise our son, except that it's hard to find a good paying job there. I go home a few weekends a month, and I too, am at Polaris ALL THE TIME!

It's on the north side of Cincinnati, actually just over the border in Hamilton.
From Columbus, the easiest way to get there is to take 71 south, when you get near Cincinnati take 275 west to Route 4. I'm not sure how far it is exactly, but about a 10 minute drive north on Rt. 4 to get there. Well worth the trip, IMO!
While you're there, if you want to make a day trip of it, there's a fantastic one-of-a-kind store called Jungle Jim's www.junglejims.com that you really should check out. Tons of great food from around the world, lots of awesome baking supplies, cookware, dishes, samples
and just a fun time. Their produce dept is about an acre in size, they have EVERYTHING you can imagine. It's on Rt 4 also, a couple of miles before you get to Sugarcraft.
I figure I'd probably save money by ordering from Sugarcraft's website instead of driving up there when I need something, though, because I would spend much less on shipping than I do on the "extra" things I see and buy when I'm in the store! ![]()
They've always been very nice to me when I'm there, and I'm there once every couple of weeks, at least.
Cincinnati Cake and Candy is closer to my house, but since I go to Jungle Jim's every week anyway, it's easy to go there. I do go to Cincinnati cake and candy also, when I need something in a hurry, and they're very nice there too. ![]()
