I'm not trying to stand up for her or anything but I did just watch a whole biography on her and she plans and sets up all of the decor on her show. She is very creative although not the best cook I have ever seen but I just thought I would put in my two cents.
I watched her biography and it totally change my opinion of her as well... Its hard to believe her lifes story!!!
I saw her biography, and it did give me more respect for her as a person. BUT, does that mean I think she ought to have a show on the FOOD network....no way! DIY, maybe or HGTV, but there is no way the garbage that little strumpet is peddling can be called food.
Sorry for the strong language but she and the other little food bimbos are really starting to get on my nerves. As far as I'm concerned, I could live my whole life without ever seeing Sandra lee, Rachel Ray or Giada Di Laurentis again.
Alton Brown rocks!!! And even though Bobby Flay is a total jerk, the boy can cook.
I havent finished reading these posts yet, but Poor Sandy. I watched the Chefography on her too, and I really liked her. She seemed to me like the true Martha Stewart, where the ideas are actually hers. No, I dont think even she expects anyone to be able to decorate and re-decorate daily as she does (she's from a very humble background) but she does want to offer new ideas. It seems her passion is decorating, her first show was about curtains, and when food network offerend her a show the catch was, do whatever you want, as long as you cook. So dont blame her for not being the best cook, she's doing what so many of us are doing (home decorators - instead of owning bakeries) and taking second best, doing what she has to, in order to do what she loves.
As I said, I think she is fine. It's the executives at the food network who air all this Yummo-crap-a-doodle-do that drive me nuts ![]()
Funny because used to I couldnt stand Alton Brown. I've gotten to where it's ok if that kid's not in the show. It all seems to dramatic and fake to me. But that's his film background. Maybe that's why I love Sandra Lee, her decorator background. I think some things she makes are good. I even copied her May Pole cake for easter and everyone loved it. She taught me to pipe with three different colors of icing. It looked too cool. Any woman who can come from her back ground, put themselves through college, become something, cook a half way decent meal, and THEN give back, is a Queen of queens to me. I am absolutely sure that the stuff that comes out of her kitchen tastes way better than anyting I can cook.
I, too, find her to be rather annoying, bit I will stop on her show if nothing else is on. The other day I was watching something of hers and she stood there facing the camera and would lean forward, say something, lean back, say some more, lean forward, something else, lean back, keep on talking. I was beginning to wonder if she would rather be on a swing or something. It was making me crazy to watch her teeter-tottering around.
I think on Sunday they were doing the Food Network Unwrapped behind the scenes stuff. Marc Summers was talking with her about her decorating and cooking. DH and I were getting the biggest laugh out of her and the theme changing stuff. Then she said something about 'It's great for people who love to cook with alcohol' when talking about her cooking, we both ROFL... freakin' lush. I tried one of her cocktails one day that sounded good... I almost poured it right down the drain... but that would have been alcohol abuse. I managed to mask the nasty flavor with fruit juice I think, just to avoid wasting the money I spent on the liquor. UGH!
I enjoy watching her show's.Just because she doesn't wear a apron doesn't mean you can't work in the kitchen.Sure some of her outfits are off the wall but that's not going to stop me from watching her.If a person don't want to watch her just switch channel's.
