Ok I need some help. I think I may have a potential disaster on my hands. I made a stacked cake last night and when I pick up the cake there is a lot of wiggling in the top. Well the cake has to last a two hour drive. And I am a little on the nervous side. I put support in it and I did not want to have the customer put on the third layer afraid they would mess it up. If anyone has any suggestion please let me know.
Thank you

What sort of support did you put in it?

Can you remove the top cake and finish stacking it when you deliver it??

I always finish my cakes on site, because I get sooooo nervous and paranoid about transporting.

Good Luck,
Alex

I used wooden dowel rods and I used seperator plates.
That is the problem Alex I am meeting the customer halfway. I will not be at the site of the party.

I would say use a long wooden dowel inserted straight through the middle of the cake, but if you have used plastic seperator plates, that won't work!! Can you take the top cake off and "glue" it down a bit on the plate? Other than that, I'm not sure what to do.

Perhaps you could leave to top cake off and give it to the customer to put on themselves? Make sure you give them EXPLICIT instructions. I know its not ideal and thats what you were avoiding, but if they mess it up, they have done it, not you, so they won't have as much of a problem with it. Not only that but a bit of smudged icing is better than you handing them a box full of crumbs and frosting!!!

Good luck!
