I tried to follow the recipe for candy clay on CC, but after I stirred in the corn syrup and poured it out onto waxed paper, it became oily. Looked like an oil slick on top of it. I grabbed some paper towels and blotted, then left it sitting out to harden.

Did I do something wrong? When I flattened it and cut it into my shapes, it was cracked and not smooth at all.

Any suggestions??????

I used the chocolate CC to make roses and found you need to "milk" the CC. The more you kneed it the oils will redistribute into the CC and make a beautiful product. Kneed it and let it rest an hour or so, then kneed again. Hope it helps you, it worked for me!

I make it quite often. My recipe is only corn syrup and chocolate. This recipe calls for the candy melts and not premium chocolates. Some of the recipes have glycerin in them. The oil seems to be always there no matter how many times I have done this. The directions say not to over mix but no matter the results are the same. I shape mine into a square or rectangular after it kneaded and then let it rest uncovered for a few hours. It's allright by then to store or work with it.

Thank You. I will try needing it more. I just stirred it and poured it on to the waxed paper. Kneading seems to be the secret.

Thanks Everyone! This site is Great!
