its anywhere from 4 to 51/2 cups I know a ten inch round will use a whole box mix. It really depends on the brand of mic I use DH a lot

Butterflyjuju...Are you using 3" pans? I only use 1 box on a 2 inch pan.

When I use DH I add one egg and one box of pudding. I end up with exactly 6 cups of batter.

Leily,

are you saying that you use 1 egg, or 1 Extra egg to your mix, with the box of instant pudding?

One extra egg so 4 eggs altogether and substitute milk for the water and a cube of butter instead of the oil. You will love this recipe as it is a sturdy cake but still moist.

It depends on the brand as well as the flavor. Also if you doctor it or not.

I use mostly DH mixs. White tends to be closer to 5 cups, chocolate around 5.5 and the Golden Butter Recipes makes 6 cups. Other flavors DH flavors mostly fall from 5 to 5.5 cups.

I believe BC and Philbury mixes usually make from 4 to 5 cups of batter.

Your best bet is to measure the brand/flavors you use alot and make a chart to help you remember. icon_smile.gif

Samsgranny: by cube of butter, do you mean 1 stick of butter (1/2 cup)? Also, do you melt the butter or just use soften butter?

Thanks, Leily.

I actually knew what you meant, but there are so many newbies reading the posts now (welcome, all!) that say they are very new to baking and decorating, that I wanted to make sure they understood. Thanks for the fast reply.
