Hi and Good Morning to you all!!!
I need some help here I'm not sure what some things are.
What is Sugar Glue? How do you make it?
What is Modelling Paste? How do you make it?
I'm trying to make a Pirate Cake for my 6year old son and I'm not sure what that stuff is.If anyone could me I would be very Thankful.I would love to make this cake for him I think he would just go crazy over it.
Thank You All,
Stacy
Hi Stacy!
Here is a link from the recipe section that might help. If you go to the recipes and go to the Fondant/Gumpaste/Sugarpaste section, there are all sorts of recipes for this stuff there.
http://www.cakecentral.com/cake_recipe-2142-23-Gumpaste.html
For modelling paste I usually just add 1tsp gum tragacanth to about a 1/2lb fondant. Knead it through, wrap tightly and leave for a couple hours for the gum to start to work. The above link shows how to make it a different way.
Modelling paste is just paste that you can use to well, make models! You know, figurines, or anything that needs to sort of set and harden. Its just like gumpaste, in fact depending on who you talk to, its the same thing.
With sugar glue, I usually just buy it
but I think you can make your own by mixing either gum tragacanth or tylose with a little water. I don't know the amounts though. Sorry.
Have fun with it!
Thank You So Very Much for your Help!!!!
Wish Me Luck,
Stacy
Jessica explained your questions very well!
Just wanted to tell you how I make my "gum glue" which is made in various ways. I simply drop 3 or 4 pea sized balls of gumpaste into a baby food jar filled 3/4 full with water and heat it in the microwave until the gumpaste dissolves. This much glue lasts a long time and the lid on the baby food jar seals tightly after each use so no worry about it leaking out.![]()
Thank You Too Teekakes!!!!
I did what Jessica told me about searching but I'm not coming up with anything.
Thanks Again
