I'm doing a half of a soccerball cake. The directions that came with the pan aren't very descriptive. Should I Outline and then fill in or fill in and then outline?? Best to do black first or white first? Also, I have a startip that has three stars on one tip to make it go faster, it's several sizes larger than the tip they recommend. Do you think it will still look okay or should I just take the extra time and use the tip they suggest?

I have done several of them. Always outline first, then pipe in the stars, with the tip they suggest, just looks neater that way. At the end, check whether the outlines are okay, otherwise repipe the one or other. I usually change the colours, when I get tired of them, no preference of when to pipe the lighter or darker one.

I have also done soccer cakes from the pan. I outline in black first then fill in the design. Use the pattern cut outs that come with the pan. that is how I did my outline.
