Hfordu posted this picture. I sent a private message, but I'm in the middle of replicating this cake. I need your thoughts. What technique and tip do you think was used on the white border? And...do you think the icing was done after the cake was stacked or as it was stacked. Any insight you can give would be great!

Thanks.

It would have been done before, this cake looks like a take on one in the 2007 yearbook. The instructions for it say to cover each cake in fondant before stacking, the white is fondant rolled out and then pressed with the fingers to make it irregular.

It looks like an open 12 to me, iced really fat and squiggly could be wrong, but that is what I would use if replicating.. good luck!

I think so too, Sugarbakerz. It looks like the same technique used to make clouds.

cute cake! Looks like something out of a cartoon. I think the white looks like puffy RI or IMBC.

I think it looks like all buttercream except for the fondant candles. The border around the middle and top looks like a round tip BC
