Does anyone here knowhow to make an elephant rose or know of a tutorial on this? I have someone wanting me to makethem a top tier of a wedding cake and he wants a buttercream elephant rose on it for their anniversary.

Boy, I did a search trying to find out what it was too, and only came up with pink(rose) colored elephants lol=) I am suprised that I couldn't find a picture of it. Jen

Oof, no idea, past doing more of a brush embroidery painting of it. The picture looks similiar to those antique looking roses that turn out beautifully in brush embroidery. I'm thinking of a cake of Collette Peter's in her Birthday Cakes book....sorry not to be more help.

Are you sure it's not just a huge rose? I've heard of elephant ears but other than the photo starkissdtears found I can't find anything on it either. Maybe you should try asking on a rose lovers board? You have piqued my curiosity now. If you find out for sure, I'd love to know the answer. Good luck!!

yes that looks like it. hard to tell from the side view but sure looks like it. I could not find a photo anywhere ont eh internet either I think I am still going ot go to the library and try to find a flower book for a good photo. I am not sure how to do petals that big, all I have done are teh standard roses.

there is probably a large petal tip that you could get through wilton...thats all I can think of.
