I was just looking at other cakes and I saw really good looking scroll borders. I would love to do it too, but I have absolutely no clue how! icon_cry.gif Does any one know how to explain it really well???

are you thinking about the reverse shell borders where one shell swirls one way and the next swirls the other way?

no, it looks like someone took two strings of frosting and twisted them around each other, then placed them for a border.

are you meaning one that looks kinda like the bottom border on this groomscake of mine? almost like a braid with only 2 strands? lol...and i realized after posting it isnt a very clear shot and that the best example in the middle of the bottom of the cake got cut off resizing so the photo would upload.... icon_cry.gif

well, actually, have you ever seen the fruit snacks called Twistables? That's the kind of scoll I'm thinking of(that's what I would like my scroll to look like). Does anyone know how to explain it really clearly. I'm not the greatest at instructions!! icon_redface.gif

Could it be the rope border? I remember having that in one of the Wilton class books. Here's a photo I found with a rope border. Does it look like that? Well you can't see it too well, but it might help.

Hi,

I have seen the twistable snacks. I think the cake term for that border is a rope border. I have the instructions on how to do it from a Wilton referance book. But the instructions are nothing with out the step by step pictures icon_sad.gif !

An easer way to do the border would be to use fondant and twist the fondant together. Hope that helps ?????

I posted the directions from the Wilton book into another thread in this category. Just look for rope border and you should find it.
