First Paid Cake; Please Help With Pricing!

Although I haven't made a lot of cakes, I do good work and frequently include 3-D details. I have no clue how to price. Should I start with a base and then add on for various "extras"? Do you have a minimum? This would be for a small party cake, but the fondant details could take quite awhile. Please give me some guidelines.
have a min for plain iced cake (maybe simple flowers) . add on for extras like figures and fondant accents
i have seen a lot of people price party cakes by the size and then wedding by the serving.
min. depends on what size cake..
8 in 20.00 or so
9 in 25
10 30
qtr sheet 25-30
half 45 or so
full 70 or so
all of this depends on your area and your costs though
...is it fondant or bc?
Really depends on what your doing....I mean, I start out at 3.25 per serving...
I am doing a sheet cake with 3-D school bus on top and I am charging 50 bucks for the bus....the cake itself is gonna feed 100 people...since its just for my mom and its gonna sit on a big sheet cake, I am charging her 2 dollars per serving....so 200 plus 50 for the bus... ![]()
Yeah me too, please! ![]()
I've never done a purse cake, and I'm going to do several practice rounds...but... Someone is asking how much I'll charge for a purse cake next april! (Thanks to some lovely examples by all the fine CC'ers!)
So...what's normal? (Med. size, Canadian city)
