Just made my first cake with fondant and wanted to know what do most people use to get fondant accents to stick to a fondant covered cake? I used corn syrup and brushed it on lightly and then stuck my accent pieces to the cake, but no matter how little I seem to use, some of the syrup "leaked" out the sides of the accent pieces and now there are little shiny spots on the cake. How do you get rid of this? Do I just need to use less syrup or is there another trick?

if the accent pieces are fresh, i just use alittle water. If the pieces are dried i use icing

Several options come to mind.

o Just plain water if both items are still somewhat moist.
o Royal icing
o Gum glue = Gum trag mixed with water
o Melted chocolate, white regular chocolate

Thanks - yes, the fondant was freshly made and it never occured to me to just use water - how simple. I'll remember that for next time.
