I was thinking about fooling around with some stringwork....
in my head I have some ideas about a cake that I want to do for our fair and I would love to do some stringwork on it. specifically the curtain string work.

I'm a complete newbie, I've only been doing this a few months and I'm pretty clueless. Now that I've started working with RI a lot more, that sort of work intrigues me.

oops, I'm rambling a bit, sorry.
So what I want to know is if anybody has any recommendations on a book that I could look at for some direction?

thank you all so much for all your inspiration!

example, (I'm borrowing a photo from BlakesCakes)

I have a library book that has a simiiar design, It is Wedding Cakes by Sylvia Coward. Hope that helps, it is a little old-fashioned, but it has some neat ideas.

Occasionally on eBAY books from Australia will come up by Berniece Vercoe, and Dorothy Evans, or by Beryl Guertner. All three are quite old books, 1960s, but all three do exqisite lace curtain or string work and have instructions for ths technique. One is Cake Icing And Decorating For All Occasions, Beryl Guertner.
Here is a link to Albris books with an available edition of Vercoe and Evans.

Oh, and I found the one by Beryl Guertner as well.

I borrowed this book from the library THE ART OF CAKE DECORATING Book Finishing Touches. It had one section where you do string work and let it dry, turn the cake upside down and do stringwork, let it dry. You repeat this 2 or 3 times. It was the coolest looking cake I have ever seen. A lot of flip flopping of the cake, but souded real easy and cool.

Thank you all so much!
I will look for those books!
unfortunately, my library doesn't have them - so I'll probably buy them from Alibris, thanks again!
