hello everyone icon_smile.gif

I am trying to make my very first cake using a Wilton character pan. It says in the instructions that I must use a pound cake mix or pudding added layer cake mix. I would prefer to make something from scratch. Is there a certain type of recipe that I should follow? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!!

I've done several character cakes and I only use the Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines cake mixes (with four kids, I don't have time to bake from scratch most days) and I've never had a problem with the cakes. For pans with more nooks and crannies, I do use the wilton cake release and brush it on first, but for most pans, I just use a non-stick cooking spray.
