I finished my first FBCT cake today. They weren't perfect, but the cake turned out really well, IMO. There are some things that I didn't think about, like that the images will be turned over when put on the cake, so all the letters of my dh's name are now backwards. Happy Birthday honey! Here's a dyslexic cake just for you! ![]()

I ran out of green icing and just finished it up in chocolate. No-one will mind and it's not like I'm getting paid for it. I also did about half of the stars on the cake with my 3 month old sleeping in my arms.. ![]()
I can see where I made some mistakes. Next time I will do the FBCT when there are no interruptions, for instance. My dh ended up working late and I had to prepare dinner and run after my toddler while making them, so they crusted over before I could smooth them. Anyway, I don't think they turned out too bad for a first try. ![]()
Next time you can go into your print settings and you might have to go into properties, but you can print a mirror image that way things won't be backwards. Just a tip for next time.
Yeah, I felt very silly when I took the letters off the board to put them on the cake and realized they were going to be backwards!
Then I decided, what the heck, I'm not throwing them away!
Won't make that mistake again!!
FBCT stand for frozen buttercream transfer. DH can stand for dear husband or duncan hines.
veronika, your cake looks great! I am so excited to try this method.
