Maybe you could at least try to find out the colors of the wedding and go with that? I would make it a pretty simple, elegant cake with summerlike colors if you have nothing to go with.

yeah I have tried to get some more opinions from my sister in law, who is the maid of honor(it being her close friend) and she just says it doesnt really matter, she just wants color.heres the thing.....it is the brides 4TH WEDDING, so I'm guessing maybe she's tired of cake and the cake might last longer than the marriage tapedshut.gif

I went to my sil today with some books and even pans, and got know comment accept I said i was trying to figure this out and she said she she didn't know.talk about whatever people. so my thought is this...I don't know this bride from a whole in the wall so I should just make easy, simple not much to it.I don't know how much tablespace i will have so I am going with a 4 tier stacked-14x3,10x3,8x3,6x3.but I have an open oppertunity here to show I can do areally good job in hopes of someone wanting to have me do another cake.if your right and she is tired of the same ol same, I was thinking all fondant with gumpaste flowers down one side,or now I'm really thinking all battercream with colored seashells and white choc corals, since we live on the jersey shore!!

On the photo below(taken from Wilton's Weddings) I think if you make the accents and the ribbons in the "cheerful colors" it would be still be what she wanted and yet classic. I think I'm going to alter this for my sisters homecoming party with flowers instead of hearts and no couple on top. Maybe a sun. Very cheery, indeed.

Of course I don't know if they even want extra decorations like flowers, ribbons, bows, etc.. Good luck and remember to post a pic.

I agree with fmandds - I really love that cake and its different. Ribbons bould be changed, or the hearts could be changed to whatever scheme the wedding is. I also like the idea of stacked gifts....

I hate "whatever" cakes too! Im always worried that Ill love it and they wont really like it...although if thats the case they should have told me what they wanted...good luck!

How about a whimsical cake - You could do it in cheery colors with maybe daisy fondant cut-outs on one layer with fondant ribbon roses & bows, and ribbons thru out. It would be different from the usually wedding cake but it could show off your talent...I also like the gift package idea as well..

I'm doing a cake for a couple next week; it is the second wedding for both...it's three different pastel colors, round tier stacked, with cornelli lace on each tier. With a bow on top (I love "present" cakes!) to complete the design, it's fun without being too over the top, and still looks like a wedding cake.

Just think, if she really likes the job you do on her cake, she'll have you do the cake for her next wedding icon_smile.gif
I know, that was bad, sorry!!

Well I couldn't find the one I was looking for but I found this one which I like better, the mums you could just use any kind of fondant cutter, pick your shape. I like how this was arranged.

www.cupcakecafe.com has some wonderful brightly colored cakes on their site as well as www.coriscorner.com. I absolutely love both of these sites and refer to them often for ideas.

You wouldn't have to do the slanty/madhatter style cake. You could just stack them ( with some sort of rod support of course)
Here are some more cakes for inspiration
