Hi everyone, I will be baking a special father's day cake this weekend and the recipie I will follow says to use cake flour, but does not mention how much baking powder to use. I purchased Swan's cake flour does it already contain baking powder? Thanks! ![]()
What is your recipe? Perhaps there are other leavening agents in there. do you have to whip some egg whites or is there baking soda and salt. If a recipe doesn't have certain ingrediants in it that doesn't alway mean it's incorrect. I just used a box of Swans Down and mine isn't self rising. Try going on line and see if they have a site that will give you more info.
Was just reading the forums for today. Go down quite a bit in the first forum, I think it is, and look for baking powder question. you will relate to this so well.
Hi,
I did a quick google search of "cake flour". It's describing it as a lower glutin, high starch flour. That it is used in creating a tender textured cake.
I looked at a featured recipe on the Swans Flour web site and that recipe required that you had to add the baking powder.
So you just have to look at that that swans mixture as just flour and will have to add all the cake ingredents your recipe asks for.
Hope I helped a little....I learned something
!

Crista
