ok, well i bought the 10 inch seperator plates and my cakes are 12 and 8 inches round. I put the seperator plate under my 8 inch, and it is sticking out 2 inches all around. I know , im an idiot because i never thought about this. All i read on the seperator plate when i bought it is .. ' to be used on cakes that are 8 inches round or larger'. So i bought it. So do you think that is going to look bad? Should i go rade the stores and look for something smaller? Im pretty sure ive never seen a 9 in one, maybe im wronge. PLEASE tell me, what you think about this. just leave it , or change?

The only thing I can think of to save it is to make creative borders all around to fill in the space. ???

I just noticed you live in WA - that's where I'm from (Gig Harbor) - but we're in really hot humid Florida now. I so envy you!!!

No, it will be fine. You can make larger borders.

Are you stacking the cakes?? You could always use cake boards and dowels instead.

Hi,

If It was me in this situation I would return them and get the ones I needed.

I think the rule is you want the plate 2 sizes bigger than cake layer?
So if you have a 12in. you would want a 14in plate. If your stacking the 8" on top of the 12 in cake. You would then want an 8in plate the same as your 8in cake that way when you go to stack it you don't see the cake plate under that layer.

When I stack cakes I usually get the card board rounds. I double them up(glue 2 together) and cover them in foil.

Hope this helps...Good Luck !

God Provides,
Crista

I personally don't like to see the plates . . . I keep them as small as possible
