Hi every one I live in Australia and I am not sure what shortening is. Is it like some sort of Lard? Also is cornstarch the same as corn flour?

According to baking911, cornstarch is called cornflour or maize cornflour in Britain, Australia, and New Zealand.

Shortening (Crisco brand) is available at www.usafoods.com.au. They have a retail store in Melbourne.
