I will be making a cowboy hat cake for a groom's cake and I was wondering if someone could tell me what would be the best thing to use for the brim. I want something that will not break easily. Is that even possible? I have only worked with fondant and I do not know if that will hold very well. Can anybody give me any advice on this? Thanks!

I'd mix in some gumtex, let it cure overnight and then form the brim. Let it dry really well in the position you want it in then place your decorated cake on top finish with a border. Well I haven't made one yet, but that's how I would try it. But I'm sure there are plenty people here who can help.

My cowboy hat I made was all MMF. If you do it a few days in advance (the brim), it will be hard enough.
