Okay, just decided last minute to make my hubby a father's day cake. Nothing elaborate, just simple, but tasty. He LOVES chocolate covered banana slices, so I will make some of those and maybe put on top, or just have those on the side. He also really likes chocolate icing. I'm picture some sort of torted cake w/ chocolate bc icing and yellow roses, writing and border.....not real sure yet though. ANY ideas will be greatly appreciated, and a recipe for a banana filling would be great too. Found one on here, but really don't want to drag 3 kids (ages 6 and under) to the liquor store for rum. Still not sure on what flavor cake to do either. Thanks in advance! ![]()
Buttercream made with real cream as well as banana lorann oil would work, or maybe a cream cheese icing flavored with the oil?
Lorann also has a butter rum oil as well, bet they would taste good together. Hey-couldn't they be added to a stabilized whipped cream to make an even lighter filling? YUM!
Hey, prettytoya- where can I find these oils of which you speak? I'm doing a "monkeys go bananas" theme for his birthday, and I'm trying not to do toooo much banana, but enough to repeat the theme. Maybe I could do the fluffy filling you're talking about, with Chocolate cake??? I don't know?!? Thanks! ![]()
The stabilized whipped cream icing can be found on the Wilton website. The oils can be ordered at www.lorannoils.com. You may be able to find them at a cake supply store in your area. The one here carries all of the flavors they have listed on the website. A few drops goes a long way, and they have a LOT of flavors to choose from. Hope this helps!
Here are three different fillings I found at ladycakes.com. There is banana cream, banana custard, and banana pudding fillings, hth.
