Hi Everyone,
I just got an order for a baby "celebration". They are not calling it a shower and they are not doing a baby theme. They are decorating with oranges, lemons and limes and asked me to do a cake with these items on it. Any ideas??? She wants it rectangular and it's for 50 people. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Lisa

I wish I could claim this as my own, but I cannot. icon_smile.gif I saw this picture a long time ago and went frantically searching when I saw your post. I think it is just simply stunning! Hope it provides some source of inspiration.

What about 3 tiers - one orange, one yellow, one green and put fruit slices on the sides all over. Like lemons on the green, oranges on the yellow, and limes on the orange. Very fresh colors.

do you mean put real fruit slices? I've never tried that before. I assume I'd need to put the fruit on at the last minute so it's fresh. I could make them out of fondant too I guess. Thanks for the idea!

I've seen a cake before (I *think* it was a Martha Stewart Weddings cake, but I can't remember for sure) that had orange, lemon, and lime candy slices (you know, those gummy-sugar coated things ... here's a link to them: fruit slices) all over it. It was really cute. Then, you wouldn't have to worry about using fresh fruit or making them out of fondant.
