I'm making a cake for my sister's baby shower on Saturday. I'm planning on doing two stacked tiers, an 8 or 9" and a 6". I was going to ice them in pink and put either swiss dots or scroll work on the sides. (I think it's called scroll work. Here is a pic using the technique)

I haven't done either of these techniques before. Which would most likely be easier? I've been so busy lately and haven't been able to practice. I'll have a little time to practice.

Also--would the swiss dots look better in white or the same color pink or a slightly darker shade of pink? Or maybe light green? Those are her colors, light pink, light green and white.

Thanks!
LL

White swiss dots are my vote. I think they look simple, festive, and classy. Please post a pic when it is complete!

I vote for light green swiss dots. I think that would be easier and it would be a neat way to incorporate the green color, it would be something differant than the same old white.

I say dots. And possibly green (might do a test of this first to make sure it looks as good as I think it might!), or white would look good for sure. If you did white dots, you could make a green bow for the top.

I vote for pale green swiss dots as well!

I say the same color as the cake. I like subtle designs, plus it leaves the eye open for other accent pieces, such as flowers or whatever. Patterns keep the eye busy, so toning them down by making them the same color moves the focal point to something else, like the top of the cake. icon_wink.gif

Here is a tip if you go with the dots. If you start to get the nipples as you pull off, use a web paint brush and smooth over them, forming them into a perfect circle.

Have fun whatever you do!!!

Nipples-funny icon_lol.gif Question: Are swiss dots just dots or a special kind of dot???
